Even though I visited in the late afternoon on a weekday, the restaurant was still crowded with customers and had a short waiting time. It was a great place to experience a local Jeju atmosphere right after arriving on the island.
During this visit, I ordered the signature Myeolchu Gimbap and Yeolmu Noodles, and the meal was more satisfying than expected.

At Chammatna Gimbap near Jeju Halla University, the first dishes served were Myeolchu Gimbap and Yeolmu Noodles. The set looked very generous and was perfect for a satisfying first meal of the trip.
Although it looked like a simple gimbap and noodle combination, the portion size was quite large and could easily be shared between two people. It was a great hearty meal to start a Jeju trip.

제주도에 도착하자마자 찾은 참맛나김밥은 이미 내부가 손님들로 가득 차 있었습니다. 평일 오후 3시가 훨씬 지난 시간이었음에도 테이블 대부분이 차 있을 정도로 인기가 많은 곳이었습니다.
관광객보다는 제주한라대 학생들과 지역 주민들이 많이 보였고, 전체적으로 로컬 맛집 분위기가 느껴졌습니다. 제주 여행 첫날 바로 이런 분위기를 접할 수 있어서 더 인상 깊었습니다.
잠시 웨이팅이 있었지만 김밥과 국수 위주의 메뉴라 회전율이 빨라 오래 기다리지는 않았습니다. 실제로 들어가 보니 식사 속도도 빠르고 편하게 이용할 수 있는 구조였습니다.
When I arrived at Chammatna Gimbap right after landing in Jeju, the inside of the restaurant was already full of customers. Even in the late afternoon on a weekday, most tables were occupied.
Most of the customers were local residents and students from Jeju Halla University, creating a very authentic local restaurant atmosphere. It was a great way to experience Jeju right after arriving.
There was a short waiting time, but since the menu mainly consists of gimbap and noodles, the turnover rate was quite fast. Once inside, the dining experience was smooth and comfortable.

음식이 나오기 전 셀프바도 이용해봤습니다. 기본적으로 단무지, 김치, 어묵볶음 등 김밥과 잘 어울리는 밑반찬들이 준비되어 있었습니다.
특히 어묵볶음은 생각보다 맛이 좋아서 몇 번이나 더 가져다 먹을 정도로 만족스러웠습니다. 전체적으로 반찬 구성이 단순하지만 깔끔하게 관리되어 있었습니다.
그리고 가장 인상 깊었던 부분은 무료로 제공되는 크림스프였습니다. 처음에는 장국인 줄 알았는데, 추억의 크림스프가 준비되어 있어 의외로 반가웠습니다.
Before the main dishes were served, I also tried the self-bar. It offered simple side dishes such as pickled radish, kimchi, and stir-fried fish cake that go well with gimbap.
The stir-fried fish cake was especially tasty, and I ended up getting more than once. Overall, the side dishes were simple but well prepared and clean.
The most surprising part was the free cream soup. I initially expected a regular broth, but instead, they offered nostalgic-style cream soup, which was a nice and unexpected touch.

I first tried the signature Myeolchu Gimbap at Chammatna Gimbap near Jeju Halla University. I was curious about the name, and it turned out to be gimbap filled with stir-fried anchovies and chili peppers.
The filling was packed tightly inside, and the roll itself was larger than regular gimbap, making it look very satisfying and hearty.
The savory anchovies combined with the slightly spicy chili created a surprisingly addictive flavor that made me keep reaching for another bite.

The second dish we ordered was Yeolmu Noodles. The refreshing appearance alone made it perfect for Jeju’s warm weather during the trip.
The crunchy young radish (yeolmu) and chilled broth created a clean and refreshing taste that balanced the meal very well.
The portion size was generous enough to share with gimbap, and it was easy to understand why this combination is so popular among visitors.
